Privacy policy

1. How SpamFilter works

Filtering is based on the words, phrases, dictionaries and rules configured in the app. Filtering decisions are made on-device. SpamFilter does not use a remote server that receives message content in order to decide whether a message should be filtered.

2. Use on iPhone

On iPhone, iOS provides the filter with the information it allows SpamFilter to inspect. SpamFilter compares the message with active rules and dictionaries and returns the filtering result to iOS. Message content and sender details are not sent to a SpamFilter server for filtering.

3. Use on Android

On Android, when SpamFilter has the appropriate permissions or is set as the SMS app, it may read and process SMS/MMS for display, filtering and message management. Messages classified as spam may be stored locally on the device in the spam folder together with information such as sender, message content, received time and the rule that caused the match.

4. Information stored on the device

SpamFilter may store custom rules, dictionary selections, language and appearance settings, onboarding and setup-guide state, and internal information required to operate the app. On Android, local information required for the inbox and spam folder may also be stored. On iPhone, rules are shared between the app and its filtering component using Apple system mechanisms.

5. What SpamFilter does not do

The current version does not require a user account, does not show advertising and does not include Analytics or Tracking systems. We do not sell personal information. SpamFilter does not send message content or your contact list to our server for advertising, tracking or user profiling.

6. Permissions

SpamFilter uses only the permissions and system access required for the features you choose to use. On iPhone, filtering is enabled through iOS Settings. On Android, SMS/MMS permissions or setting SpamFilter as the SMS app may be required for some messaging features.

7. Deleting information

Custom rules, dictionary selections and preferences can be changed or deleted at any time. You can use “Reset rules and preferences” in SpamFilter Settings to reset local rules and preferences. This does not delete Android messages or conversations; spam-folder messages can be deleted separately.

8. System services and third parties

SpamFilter relies on Apple and Android system services for message delivery, permissions, storage and system features. Those services are subject to the privacy policies and controls of Apple and Google.

9. Information security

We aim to minimize the amount of information stored and keep filtering on-device wherever possible. However, no software system can guarantee absolute security. We recommend keeping your operating system and SpamFilter updated and protecting your device with a passcode, Face ID, Touch ID or another appropriate security method.

10. Children

SpamFilter is not specifically directed to children and was not designed as a service for collecting children’s personal information.

11. Changes to this policy

If our handling of information changes materially, this Privacy Policy will be updated before the relevant version is distributed, where required.

12. Contact

SpamFilter is operated by ספאם פילטר (SpamFilter). For privacy, security or support questions: spamfilterapp@gmail.com.

13. Subscription, trial and payments

Access to iPhone filtering requires an annual Apple subscription. Eligible users may receive a one-month free trial, as shown in the purchase sheet. After the trial, the subscription renews at the local annual price shown by Apple unless cancelled under the displayed terms. Joining requires explicit approval through Apple. SpamFilter does not receive or store card numbers, security codes or Apple passwords. Subscription management, cancellation and refund requests are handled through Apple. Resetting settings or deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.

14. Subscription entitlement information

Apple supplies verified purchase and entitlement information, such as the purchased product, subscription expiration, renewal status and trial eligibility. Minimal product and verified-expiration information is stored on-device so filtering can work offline until that date. When local information does not grant access, the filtering component attempts to read verified entitlement information from Apple using StoreKit, without passing message content or sender details. A verified result may be kept in the filtering component’s process memory until its expiration. If access cannot be verified in time, the message is delivered normally and rules are retained. The app also attempts entitlement refresh in the background when iOS permits it. If access has not refreshed after renewal, open the app with an internet connection. The time and general outcome of the latest background refresh attempt are also stored on-device for troubleshooting. This information is not sent to a SpamFilter server. Apple purchase services require network access and are subject to Apple policies. SMS content is not sent to Apple for subscription verification.

15. Contacting support

If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to send to handle your request. Correspondence is handled using Google Gmail and retained as needed for support and legal obligations. You can request deletion by contacting support. Do not send personal SMS content, card numbers, passwords or verification codes.
